Welcome to my G:BoC Fansite

Here are your Champions

Below are descriptions of each champion. You must pick one champion to represent you in the arena. Each champion has strengths and weaknesses. Below, champions are described in terms of style of play, a quote, strengths/weaknesses, and recommended cards to start. Also, some people play the sealed format, which is 35 cards and 175 chi. Eventually I will write recommended starter decks for each hero.
NAME: Erika
STYLE OF PLAY
Erika is the youngest champion. Very strong aura, but not much of a fighter. She can beckon tigers outside of her timeline. Usually a champion can only beckon the summons that are in the player's hand. Erika can beckon tigers that are not in her hand. The player uses tigers set to side at the start of the game.
QUOTE:
TIPS: She should send summons out in front of her and take command from the rear. Great summons for Erika are Giant Scorpion and Barruk. But she also needs a few Area of Effect casts, like Landslide.
STRENGTHS: She can flood the arena with summons, which gives her a lot of control of the arena when taking turns.
WEAKNESSES: Very low health. Doesn't take much to knock her out.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Feng
STYLE OF PLAY:
Feng is a fighter. Because of her Energy Reduction, -2, she can play many techniques. Techniques tend to do damage in the space directly in front of the champion. This means Feng needs to get in close to defeat the opposing champion. To do that, she may have to fight her way through opposing summons. QUOTE: "Do you really think you can stand in my way?"
TIPS: First, Feng should take Purifying Wave. Second, Feng should take either some cheap summons or a few area-effect spells to help clear a a path or keep a path open. Without a path to the enemy champion, Feng won't be able to win.
STRENGTHS: Currently the best Energy Reduction in the game.
WEAKNESSES:
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Idiris
STYLE OF PLAY: Idiris is a great champion. She can cast fireballs from a distance, which cause 2 points of damage at a cost of 5 Aura. This is a great ratio.
QUOTE:"Let's get you down here and burn that smirk off your face."
TIPS: Use summons to bring down the enemy champion while Idiris' fireballs constantly lower the health of the enemy.
STRENGTHS: Being able to damage an enemy at a distance, from anywhere in the arena, is very advantageous. No one can hide from you.
WEAKNESSES: Idiris cannot destroy her enemies by fireball alone. She needs to use cards, such as summons or area effect spells, to do the rest. Be sure not to run out of aura before finishing off the enemy.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Kendra
STYLE OF PLAY: At 150 Aura, no other champion has more than Kendra. This makes her a great caster or summoner. Her unique ability, Neurum, can give her card advantage, which can also translate into initiative on the board by use of more summons. However, to use Neurum you have to get in close and this is where Kendra comes up short. Poor health, no energy reduction, and a weak basic attack makes her brittle.
QUOTE: "I love that you get zapped when you stand back to back."
TIPS:Kendra likely makes a better caster/mage than a summoner. However, Nubia has the same amount of Aura and draws a card every turn, while Kendra's Neurum attack is very conditional.
STRENGTHS: Hard to run out of Aura at 150.
WEAKNESSES: Basic attack and health are too low and Neurem doesn't work every turn.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Korr
STYLE OF PLAY: Korr is half way between a fighter and a summoner. The -1 Energy reduction helps him as a fighter. Korr also has a decent amount of Aura and good health, along with a good attack. However, he isn't great in any one area. He is an all-arounder. A Bronze medalist in all sports.
QUOTE: "The dead do make good soldiers"
TIPS: Feel free to take 1-health summons so that Korr can draw extra cards when needed.
STRENGTHS: To take advantage of killing opponent's 1-health summons to draw a card, Korr has to get in close, but that's OK with his energy reduction.
WEAKNESSES: Doesn't have any weaknesses, but he does need a very well thought-out strategy to put together a winning deck.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Kunn
STYLE OF PLAY: Like Korr, Kunn is half-way between a fighter and summoner. But his 100 points of Aura limits his ability to bring in lots of summons.
QUOTE: "Even with your back against the wall, there are still options."
TIPS: Summons should help Kunn do the fighting. In other words, Kunn takes on the opposing champion, while Kunn's summons keep threats away from Kunn.
STRENGTHS: Extra movement gives a huge boost to controlling the arena. Health and energy reduction are both good.
WEAKNESSES: While Kunn's attack is good at 2, it's also action speed. This means Kunn needs his movement to get into position.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Long
STYLE OF PLAY: Bring on a summon. Heal it up. Send it forward. Sometimes it can be that simple. Long is a summoner. He starts with a high health and can bring on summons with high health. He does have energy reduction, so he can switch to fighting. Also, his attack does Holy damage, which while not great, does give options.
QUOTE: "True honor is protecting those you fight alongside."
TIPS: Think of summons that benefit from high health. Enraged Gorilla? Blitz summons?
STRENGTHS: Starting health of 28 gives Long an ability to make mistakes and survive long enough to bring in more summons.
WEAKNESSES: Has a low starting aura for a summoner. Need to think about how to maximize a low aura with ability to heal.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Malik
STYLE OF PLAY: Highest health at 30. Highest attack damage at 4. He is a tank. An energy reduction leads him to take more technique cards. Lowest aura, which means he is a fighter. His awareness is typical, which means he has to keep opponents in front of him. His strategy is straightforward. He is good for a beginner learning the game.
QUOTE: "When all else fails, just bash them in the face."
TIPS: Push your opponent in a corner, block them in, and then trade blows.
STRENGTHS: Great health. Lots of card choices that allow Malik to do damage at short range.
WEAKNESSES: His big attack costs health. Don't rely on this big attack. If Malik chooses to doa his big attack and it misses, due to Oten or something like it, then Malid takes damage and the opponent does not.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Nubia
STYLE OF PLAY: Nubia is a mage, likes to use Cast/Arcane cards. Perhaps the best champion in in the game. Her unique ability, drawing an extra card every turn, is extrememly powerful. It puts her in the pro leagues. Nubia is best as a mage with 150 aura.
QUOTE: "With powers like these, who needs to see?"
TIPS: Everybody fears Nubia surrounded with Angels of Retribution.
STRENGTHS: Usually has card advantage. She never runs out of cards.
WEAKNESSES: Low health and wimpy attack means do not get in close with an enemy. Also, don't risk losing because of running out of cards.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Odara
STYLE OF PLAY: Personally (for me), I like playing Odara. However, she needs summons in order to take advantage of her unique ability, Spur, but unfortunately she only has 110 aura. Very tough to make a winning deck for Odara. Imagine a Primordial Force in front of Odara being spurred to attack more than once in a turn.
QUOTE: "These flames start in the heart."
TIPS: I like the idea of one good summon surrounded by a few smaller ones getting spurred by Odara, but I haven't figured out the correct balancer there yet.
STRENGTHS: Swift attack is ranged, which means she can attack from behind a summon.
WEAKNESSES: Health is too low. She doesn't last long enough to take advantage of her unique ability.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Ra-Ha
STYLE OF PLAY: So many advantages here. Decent health. Energy resistance. Great awareness. Swift attack. Swift atttack at RANGE! Great fighter. Ra-Ha has low aura, but has so many other strengths, this is a minor weakness. Very flexible, which means she is hard to predict.
QUOTE: "Until the last drop of my blood, I will show them the error of their ways."
TIPS: Ra-Ha may take awhile to get good at using. Her multiple advantages make her strong, but complex
STRENGTHS: Too many to name, or atleast name again. (see above)
WEAKNESSES: Low aura. Make sure when building a deck, take this aura of 95 into consideration.
SUGGESTED STARTER DECK (Sealed Format):
NAME: Rayne
STYLE OF PLAY: Fantastic attack at 3. Only Malik delivers a more powerful punch. Good awareness. Can move anywhere in the arena. And energy resistance. But, wow, very low health. Rayne must use her movement to deliver damage and stay out of range of attacks. Also, has a low aura, which limits her choice of cards in deck building.
QUOTE: "No matter how long your weapon is, you can't hit me."
TIPS: Rayne has a One-Turn-Kill deck that make sense for her. She dances around and looks for a killing blow.
STRENGTHS: Great attack and ability to move away from the fight when needed makes her dangerous.
WEAKNESSES: Can't take a punch at 18 health.
